Southwark is one of London’s most historic areas on the South Bank of the Thames. It was from here that Chaucer’s pilgrims left the Tabard Inn for Canterbury. Now it is the home of several theatres, including The Globe, The National Theatre, The Old Vic , and many art galleries, concert halls, the Imperial War Museum, and of course the London Eye. Nearby Borough Market is possibly the most famous food market in Britain. Many local small shops such as bakeries, newsagents and grocers, as well as a large supermarket, are a short walk away. Cafes and restaurants of all variety within a short walk. Lovely riverside walks. London Bridge tube station 5 minutes away. Buses 2 minutes.
The second floor walk-up apartment is on Southwark Bridge Road south of Southwark Bridge. It is a large 1,100 sq. foot modern conversion retaining many original features such as beamed ceilings.
The sitting/dining room includes a dining table for 6, sofa and chairs, two desks and a good working/office space . One queen – size double bedroom. Folding single bed for third person ideally a child/teen. This fits into an “alcove” in sitting room.
Two bathrooms, one with shower, the other bath with shower over.
Kitchen with all machines (washer/drier, dishwasher, etc.).
